The piano or pianoforte is a musical instrument with a keyboard that creates sounds through strings struck by a felt covered hammer. The standard piano produced in the modern period contains 88 keys with covers seven full octaves. The piano is known for the range of musical ideas that it can execute with its full range of 8 octaves. It is also arguably one of the most versatile instruments created as it is used in virtually every musical genre. The piano and its predecessors have given birth to a huge number of compositions throughout the history of music as it allowed a composer to use the full range of an orchestra.
THE KEYBOARD
An electronic keyboard may also be called a digital keyboard. are capable of recreating a wide range of instrument sounds piano, saxophone, flute, violin, etc. Electronic keyboards are usually designed for home users, beginners and other non-professional users. They typically have unweighted keys. The least expensive models do not have velocity-sensitive keys, but mid- to high-priced models do. The user typically selects from a range of preset "voices" or sounds, which include imitations of many instruments and some electronic synthesizer sounds. Home keyboards have a much lower cost than professional synthesizers.
